What Is Attendant Care?
Attendant care provides individualized assistance that helps a person with an intellectual or developmental disability accomplish everyday activities and participate more fully in home and community life.
The specific support a person receives depends upon their individual needs, abilities, goals, and approved service plan. For some people, that may mean assistance with daily routines. For others, it may involve developing greater independence, accessing the community, practicing new skills, or receiving support while participating in activities they enjoy.
At HDE, we don't believe good attendant care means simply doing things for someone.
Whenever possible, our goal is to support individuals in making choices, developing skills, participating in their communities, and doing more for themselves.
